Structural Mechanics and Fluid Structure Interaction
ICSM++ can be used to solve static or dynamic structural problems including large deformations and temperature induced stresses. Segregated input files for ICSM++ and ICFD++ can be easily set up for FSI using the MetaFSI interface, which facilitates communication between the two codes and also morphs the CFD grid to follow the structural deformations. Although Metacomp is always ready to couple third party structural solvers with ICFD++, ICSM++ provides us the flexibility to tailor both solvers, and their coupling algorithms, to meet our customers’ needs.
ICSM++ introduces a new level of multi-disciplinary analysis and design capability to engineers and scientists in diverse fields of science and technology.
ICSM++ is a finite element based structural mechanics simulation software suite which has been specifically designed, from the outset, to work seamlessly with ICFD++, ICAA++ and IMIME to carry out Multi-Physics simulations involving fluid flows, acoustics, structural deformations and heat transfer.
ICSM++ heralds Metacomp’s vision for a flow structure interaction capability with an unprecedented level of interaction between all the component disciplines.
In addition to importing meshes from IMIME, ICSM++ can import just the mesh or the complete finite element model from several commercial finite element codes. The integrated GUI can be used to setup, solve and analyze a problem quickly and efficiently.

Socket communication with ICFD++
Multi-disciplinary physics can be easily accessible with ICSM++ enabling Fluid Structure Interaction. Loads created by inertia, posed external body forces or external aerodynamics forces can be coupled using ICSM++ to determined the movement and/or the deformation of the body. Meshes are created both for internal structure and for the external flow field. Socket integrated ICSM++ and ICFD++ can work together to compute the final deformation deformation caused by external aerodynamic forces. The communications between the mesh for the structural mechanics and the mesh for CFD is handled automatically by MetaFSI.
